Arif
PROJECT NR.6
Location: Kosovo
Project : Arif is a story about hospitality, belonging, and a way of life deeply connected to the land.
Named after the man who welcomed us into his home country, this project follows the rolling hills of Kosovo, where shepherds and their dogs still move through the landscape with precision and quiet understanding. When the flock made its way home, the shepherd spoke little, the dog needed no instruction. Together they guided the animals across the hills in a choreography refined over generations. The sheep grazed undisturbed, slowly moving through the landscape as if following a rhythm older than the road beside them.
Arif also cares for stray dogs living on the margins of society. Some of the images in this series were taken at a local landfill, where stray dogs have made a home among the waste. Their presence forms a quiet contrast to the harmony of the pastoral landscape, revealing another layer of the relationship between people, animals, and place.
